Well, here we are. Our last Bible study before going on break. This will also be our last study in “TO BE A DISCIPLE OF JESUS CHRIST”. Over the past ten weeks we have learned many aspects and characteristics of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. One lesson we covered was from 1 Peter 3:15, But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.

Are you ready to share your testimony as a reason for your hope?

With Easter coming up very soon, not only proclaim the gospel and share your testimony but as Peter said,” be ready to give a defense”.

ARE YOU READY TO GIVE A DEFENSE? LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!

When we share with others they are going to ask you questions about your belief. As a disciple you need to be prepared. So this week let’s have a little fun and prepare you for some of those questions you may face.

I will act as a non believer and you will need to convince me why I would or should be a follower or disciple of Jesus Christ. Use what you know and scriptures if you can to help.  Here we go:

.

Why should I believe in Jesus Christ, He’s not a real person, isn’t he just a mythical character in your Bible?

You say he is the Son of God and divine. Wasn’t he just an ordinary man like you and me?

You say he died on a cross to pay for my sins. How can one man being executed on a cross 2,000 years ago pay for “my” sins today?

Now, about this resurrection nonsense:

First, I heard it wasn’t even Jesus on the cross. Some say it was Judas or a substitute so they could have Jesus show up three days later and say he resurrected?

Second, Jesus didn’t really die on the cross but feigned death and recovered later in the tomb and came out?

Next when Peter and John went to the tomb Jesus wasn’t there. Why not?

  • They went to the wrong tomb?
  • Couldn’t the religious leaders get rid of the body so he couldn’t raise on the third day like he said he would?
  • Didn’t the disciples steal the body so they could say he resurrected?

The apostles and followers of Jesus say they saw Jesus for 40 days after his supposed resurrection.

  • Wasn’t it just a ghost?
  • They were mourning and distraught and just wanted to see him so they did, didn’t they?
  • They were hallucinating?
  • Didn’t they just make it up to keep their “Way” and beliefs alive?
  • Isn’t it true that only the Apostles said they saw Jesus alive and no one else?

There you go. Let’s have some fun and teach each other so we are better prepared to “Give a defense” for the hope we have.

I also want to make it very clear that this is not intended to be blasphemous or disrespectful to God or our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in any way, but to prepare ourselves to be His light in the world.

To Him goes all the praise, honor, power and glory for ever and ever!!!
