WHAT VALUE DOES GOD PLACE ON YOU?
Luke 12:6-7, 6 “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
What is Value or Worth? How do you determine the value or worth of something?
1. Does it have a purpose?
2. Does it serve its purpose?
3. Is it useful or useless?
4. Is it rare or common?
5. Is it highly sought after?
Last week we talked about being God’s Treasure and how we are all precious to God.
Isaiah 43:1-3, 1But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. 2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. 3For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
The Scripture says, “ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.” You are so precious to God and have so much value and worth that He redeemed you and you are now His!
What does it mean, “to redeem”? Here are some definitions of “redeem”:
1. gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment:
2. atone or make amends for;
3. do something that compensates for poor past performance or behavior; to make something or someone seem less bad:
4. buy the freedom of:
5. To recover ownership of by paying a specified sum:
Let’s look at definition 5.
1 Cor. 6:19-20, 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
What value did God place on you? What are you worth to Him? What was God willing to pay to redeem you?
1 Peter 1:18-21, 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 20 He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
(Psalm 49:8;Psalm 72:14; Acts 20:28)
So, what did God give to redeem you? (John 3:16)
I want to close with: Rev. 1:4-6, Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
GOD LOVES YOU!!!!
